Severe Dust Storm Sweeps Al Qassim, Saudi Arabia, Triggering Weather Alerts and Safety Warnings

A powerful dust storm swept through the Al Qassim region of Saudi Arabia on Sunday, blanketing the area in thick dust and sand. The storm drastically reduced visibility to less than 100 meters, causing dangerous conditions on roads and disrupting daily life. Towering clouds of dust, reaching heights of 1,500 to 2,000 meters, created an imposing wall that dominated the skyline.

The Saudi National Meteorological Center issued warnings, urging residents to stay indoors, follow safety guidelines, and remain alert to changing weather conditions. Health officials advised people, especially those with respiratory issues, to wear masks and limit outdoor activities.

In addition to the dust storm, the Meteorological Center forecasted heavy rainfall in several regions, including Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, Makkah, Riyadh, and Al Qassim. The combination of dust and rain has raised concerns about reduced visibility, slippery roads, and potential flash floods in affected areas.

Authorities have called for extra caution, particularly among motorists. Drivers are urged to slow down, use headlights, and avoid travel unless necessary. Emergency services remain on standby to assist in any weather-related incidents.

Dust storms are a recurring phenomenon in Saudi Arabia, especially during seasonal transitions. However, the severity of this storm has underscored the need for public awareness and preparedness.

Residents are advised to stay updated through official weather reports and alerts as the situation continues to evolve.
