Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar Settle Defamation Case After Five Years

After a five-year legal battle, actor-MP Kangana Ranaut and renowned lyricist-screenwriter Javed Akhtar have amicably settled their defamation suits. Kangana announced the reconciliation on social media, sharing a picture with Akhtar and expressing gratitude for the resolution.

Taking to Instagram, Kangana posted a smiling photo with Javed Akhtar, writing, “Today Javed ji and I have resolved our legal matter (defamation case) through mediation. In the mediation, Javed ji has been very kind and gracious. He also agreed to write songs for my next directorial.” The settlement not only puts an end to their legal dispute but also paves the way for an unexpected professional collaboration.

The dispute dates back to 2020 when Javed Akhtar filed a defamation case against Kangana. He alleged that she had made defamatory statements about him during a television interview in the wake of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s tragic death. Akhtar claimed these remarks damaged his reputation, leading him to take legal action. Over the years, their legal battle saw multiple court proceedings and countersuits, keeping the case in the spotlight.

However, through mediation, both parties have chosen reconciliation over prolonged conflict. Their decision to move forward marks a significant moment in the entertainment industry, emphasizing the power of dialogue and resolution. With Javed Akhtar now set to contribute lyrics to Kangana’s next directorial project, their reconciliation has taken an unexpected but positive turn.
