Trump Pauses Tariffs for Most Countries, Raises Them on China

With global markets falling, President Donald Trump suddenly changed his approach on Wednesday. He decided to stop most tariffs (extra taxes on goods from other countries) for 90 days for many nations. At the same time, he sharply increased the tax on Chinese imports to 125%.

This move seemed to shift the trade conflict from many countries to mainly focusing on China.

After the announcement, stock markets around the world went up. However, it’s still unclear exactly how the U.S. will ease tariffs for countries other than China.
